Shamari Figures, the newly minted Congressman from Alabama's 2nd Congressional District, whose primary residence is in Maryland where he has chosen to raise his family rather than in CD 2, had wasted no time showing his true colors—and they are NOT the colors of Alabama. Instead of spending his recess time in Alabama, he spent it with the fringe left. What does he do? He ran straight into the arms of the radical left, hosted his first big fundraiser not with the folks back home, but with the extreme fringes of the progressive elite.

On Presidents Day, he chose to be in Atlanta, not Alabama. U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) fundraised for U.S. Rep. Shomari Figures (D-Mobile) there, chose to seek support outside of Alabama rather than engaging directly with the voters of his own district.

Crockett, an ardent critic of the Trump administration, had recently claimed white supremacists were responsible for 80% of violent crime in America. She had also expressed open disdain for MAGA supporters in Alabama, dismissing them as backward and out of touch with modern progressivism. She also had said DEI pushback was a product of "white tears" from "mediocre white boys."

This is an outright insult to every voter in Alabama’s CD 2. You had put your trust in this man to represent your values, your concerns, your way of life—and instead of standing with you, he was busy cozying up to the very people who sneer at everything Alabama stands for. The message is loud and clear: you don’t matter. Your struggles, your faith, your values—they’re all secondary to the approval of the Washington, D.C., donor class.

How dare he? How dare he take the sacred trust of Alabama voters and immediately sell it out for a few campaign checks from the radical left? This isn’t just bad optics. This is a betrayal. He didn’t even try to pretend to care about the people who put him in office before jetting off to fundraise with the most extreme, out-of-touch ideologues imaginable.

Alabama, wake up. This isn’t just another politician playing the game—this is a direct slap in the face. It’s time to hold Figures accountable. Call his office, show up at town halls, and make your voices heard. Demand that he stand with the people of Alabama, not the radical elites funding his campaign. Figures had shown us exactly who he is, and it’s time to take notes. He isn’t here for you. He isn’t here for Alabama. He’s here for them. And if this is how he starts his time in office, just imagine the damage he’ll do next.

The people of Alabama’s 2nd District deserve a representative who will fight for them, not one who abandons them for radical activists and out-of-state donors. Figures had already proven he is nothing more than a puppet for the extreme left, a disgrace to the office he holds, and an insult to the hardworking people of Alabama. This is a betrayal that cannot be forgotten. Alabama voters must send a message loud and clear: we will not be ignored, we will not be silenced, and we will not stand for a representative who puts Washington elites over Alabama values. It’s time to show Figures the door and reclaim this seat for a leader who actually respects the people who put him in office. Shamari Figures had just proven he’s not that man. And come the next election, it’s time to remind him who he really works for—because it sure isn’t the people of Alabama.
